New Guys

Thankfully, I don't have a lot of negative things to say about last night's game. Jake did a great job to stop the losing streak at one. Isn't is weird to only have a one game losing streak? Is that even considered a streak. I mean, you have to go back almost a full month to the last time we had a losing streak that short (June 11).

It's great to see Casey mashing the ball and Broussard breaking out of his slump. But.... with only one homer so far this year, isn't it obvious that Broussard is only keeping first base warm for Michael Aubrey who is murdering Carolina League pitching? Everyone always complains about how Hafner's a butcher in the field, but with a couple of big dropped popups, is Broussard that much better?

Speaking of Michael Aubrey, I found this interesting link of him with his family on draft day. Kinda funny.

This guy's gonna be our 1st baseman?!?!

This year's first pick, Jeremy Sowers, is the topic of a lot of conversation. Hopefully his minor-league career is a little smoother than Jeremy Guthrie's has been. Here are a few links to Jeremy:
Story in Louisville Courier-Journal

It turns out Jeremy has a twin who isn't quite the ballplayer that his brother is. That's gotta hurt.

Here's an interesting article from a few years ago when Cincy drafted him.

By the way, you can watch Jeremy pitch in the Super Regionals against the number 1 team in the country, the Texas Longhorns, tomorrow at 7:00 pm on ESPN. If Vandy wins that game, they'll go on to the College World Series in Omaha. If you ask me, I hope Sowers goes seven strong innings and gives up one unearned run with Vandy losing 1-0. He's already thrown 119 inning as a Junior in college and the less he throws now, the better.

All for now, maybe more later.
